About Glanzkost | Certified Nutritional Counseling in Munich

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me.

My name is Irene Janzen. I am a certified nutritionist in Munich. My main focus is on supporting women with breast cancer. In addition, I advise people of all ages and genders – regardless of diagnoses or pre-existing conditions. Whether in one-on-one consultations or in consultations for couples and families: I always support my clients individually and as equals.

The Path to Glanzkost — A Personal Story

Everything I pass on in my consultations is something I have lived myself for over 15 years. The path to Glanzkost was a drastic one, and it began on a perfectly ordinary morning.

39 years old, career woman. Today Munich, tomorrow Hamburg, the day after tomorrow Rio de Janeiro. At home, the everyday life of a wife and mother of a teenager awaited. Life was turbulent and exciting – I felt alive and in the fast lane. Conscious eating? Not an issue. And a glass of rosé champagne was common enough in that environment.

Then came a morning and a look in the mirror that changed everything. An attentive gynecologist recognized what I suspected: breast cancer. At 39. Everything happened very quickly. I was lucky. The doctors in Munich were able to treat me in time and gave me a second chance.

How Diet Changed My Life

Chemotherapy was a physical and psychological burden. My body rejected many foods that had been perfectly normal until then. This was followed by 8 years of anti-hormone therapy with Tamoxifen.

For the first time, I started looking into nutrition.

Not out of interest.

But out of necessity.

During this time, I began to read, experiment, and observe intensively. Through self-study and countless nutritional experiments, I gradually developed my own path, one that I now call my golden path. Over time, people in my environment also became interested in my eating style. Friends, family, and acquaintances asked for support. This led to conversations, shared changes, and many positive experiences.

Finally, people with very different challenges approached me. Young adults, people with type 2 diabetes or metabolic disorders, MS, and eventually also women with a cancer diagnosis.

The feedback encouraged me: I had to help more people. So I completed the certified training course to become a nutrition consultant in order to be able to pass on my knowledge in a well-founded, responsible, and truly understanding way.

Enjoyable Eating – Not About Deprivation

Nutrition brings me joy. This joy blossomed into a passion for the culinary arts. I don't forgo pleasure—quite the opposite: it was only after my diagnosis that I began to live naturally and consciously. And often, it's the little things that can make the biggest difference.

My philosophy? To express it in the more than 2,400-year-old words of Hippocrates:

"Let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food."

I love life, the arts, music, haute cuisine, fashion, and jewelry. In short: Glanzkost (Glamorous Food). This is the common thread you will experience in my consultation. A stylish affirmation of life. Of enjoyment, aesthetics, and the conviction that health and quality of life go hand in hand. This idea shapes my work as a nutritionist.

What you can expect from me – and what I hope for from you

My clients often describe the first few weeks as intense and sometimes demanding. A change in diet affects one's entire lifestyle, and the initial phase can be more challenging for some than for others – I say this quite openly. I take the time and patience each and every one of you needs, in a structured, honest, and dedicated manner.

What do I wish for? That you approach it with openness and a spark of willingness to change. Not for me. But for yourself.

Because our time is precious. I've known that since my diagnosis.

So let's make the best of it.

I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely, Irene Janzen
